You’re Dope is a living promise to always BE YOU, proudly and loudly! When you believe YOU’RE DOPE, nothing can stop you!

Hi, I’m J-Dro. When I was born, my parents named me John Dallessandro .. and for the record, my parents also extremely DOPE. So shout out to them!

Anyway, I spent a lot of my life trying to fit in. I wanted to be accepted. I wanted to be validated. I wanted to be seen as the best by the people around me because I thought that would make me happy.

And when I say I tried to find where I belonged, I tried.

I’ve lived through addiction. I’ve been on the wrong side of the law. I’ve surrounded myself with the wrong people. I’ve also tried the complete opposite—I even found success in corporate America and the insurance industry for a few years…not recommended.

I tried being a lot of different people.

Eventually, I realized none of those versions could make me happy because none of them were completely me.

After years of fighting, searching, screwing up, starting over and doing some serious soul-searching, I finally surrendered to something incredibly simple:

Just be yourself.

Music has always been my passion. It’s the thing I’ve wanted to do for as long as I can remember. But the more people I’ve been fortunate enough to reach through music, the more I’ve realized that what I truly love about it is its ability to bring people together. To inspire somebody. To change somebody’s mood. To make a person feel understood. There’s an incredible power in music—and an incredible power in positivity.

I wanted to find a way to express what I’m trying to express through my music in the simplest way possible. Something that could speak to anybody, whether they ever listen to one of my songs or not.

That became You’re Dope.

To me, You’re Dope means being yourself without apology. It means embracing your flaws and your imperfections instead of hiding them. It means taking pride in the person you are, living with the freedom that comes from accepting that person, and then passing that freedom on to somebody else.

That’s why our message is:

Live it. Wear it. Share it.

Live it by being unapologetically you.

Wear it as a reminder to take pride in who you are.

Share it by reminding the people around you that they have every reason to feel the same way.

Because at the end of the day, the message really is that simple:

You’re dope. You’re an amazing, beautiful person, and you should never sacrifice a second trying to be anything other than that.

Thanks,
- J DRO
